About IRFD

The International Research Foundation for Development, Inc. (IRFD) is an autonomous, nonpartisan, transnational organization composed of an international community of contemplative thinkers, policy makers, practitioners, and laypersons who are making a concerted effort to improve the quality of life at various levels of the world. The foundation was established in 1993 and operates within its special category of consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations as specified in UN Charter Article 71.

IRFD is a registered non-profit organization under section 501(c)3 of the United States Internal Revenue Service.


IRFD’s mission is to establish and maintain an integrated global network for scientific policy research and advocacy on contemporary development issues. This system of novel interface aims to create a global community of cooperation and partnership for human concerns of sustainable development: socioeconomic, politico-cultural, and educational and scientific. The outcome of this effort should generate original and transcendental thought: cross-cultural, cross-nationalistic, cross-regionalistic, and cross-disciplinary. The thrust of this mission is to empower grass roots views so that global policy making is affected generating global peace and sustainable development in the new millennium.
